Veselica Open Enrollment for Dancers, Singers, and Musicians 2026/27 – Become Part of Slovak Folk Tradition in Chicago

Do you love Slovak culture, music, singing, or dance? Would you like to meet new friends, develop your talents, and experience the rich traditions of Slovak folklore in Chicago? Veselica Slovak Cultural Organization is welcoming new members to all of its performing groups and invites youth and adults to become part of our growing folk family.


Rehearsals are held every Monday:

  • Veselica Folk Music Ensemble & Veselička Young Musicians: 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM (Rehearsals are scheduled in group sessions based on age and skill level.)


  • Veselica Dance and Vocal Ensembles (Youth & Adults): 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM


  • Veselička Children's Folk Ensemble: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

    (During the school year, additional Saturday rehearsals are held from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM.) Registration to Children's ensemble Veselička is conducted through the Slovak Academy of Chicago.

Folk Dance Ensemble

We are looking for boys and girls ages 15 and older who enjoy movement, music, and traditional Slovak folk dance. Whether you have previous experience or are completely new to folklore, Veselica offers a welcoming environment where you can learn, grow, and create lasting memories.


Vocal Ensemble

If you enjoy singing and would like to help preserve and share the beauty of Slovak folk songs, join our vocal ensemble. Together, we bring Slovak traditions to cultural events, festivals, and community celebrations throughout the Chicago area.


Veselica Folk Music Ensemble

Do you play the violin, viola, double bass, accordion, flute, clarinet, or another traditional instrument?

We are seeking musicians ages 14 and older to join the Veselica Folk Music Ensemble. Members have the opportunity to develop their musical skills, perform authentic Slovak folk music, and collaborate with dancers and singers at performances and cultural events.



Veselička – Young Musicians

Children ages 9 and older with previous musical experience are invited to join Veselička – Young Musicians. Participants learn traditional Slovak folk music, develop their musical abilities, and gain valuable ensemble performance experience while becoming part of Chicago’s Slovak cultural community.


Cimbalom Lessons

Children and youth ages 9 and older are welcome to learn the cimbalom, one of the most distinctive instruments in Central European folk music. If you have always wanted to learn this unique instrument, now is the perfect opportunity.

For more than 25 years, Veselica Slovak Cultural Organization has brought together Slovaks and friends of Slovak culture through music, dance, singing, and community engagement. Our members perform at cultural events and festivals while helping preserve and promote Slovak heritage in Chicago and throughout the United States.
